Cyber Alert: Questions for candidates, having your voice heard
October 16, 2008

Candidate survey update

Time is running out for candidates to complete our survey so we need your help!

As you know from our last alert, we have sent surveys to all candidates for state office.  As the election nears and the candidates make their rounds in your neighborhoods, please make a point to tell them to respond to our survey immediately.

All they have to do is go to our Web site, log on and answer a few questions.  It will only take them five minutes!

Click here to check out the questions we asked.

And while you’re at it, make sure you tell them to protect our schools!

 Speaking of elections…

Education Week is sponsoring a live webcast of "Education and the Next President," a live debate from Teachers College, Columbia University, with Linda Darling-Hammond, education adviser to Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama, and Lisa Graham Keegan, education adviser to Republican nominee John McCain.

This would be a perfect opportunity to ask the Presidential candidates their views on public cyber/virtual/online education. The webcast is Tuesday, Oct. 21, 7 to 9 p.m.(Eastern).

 Visit Education Week online
at and scroll to the right of the web page to register for the online webcast.

 Still time to respond

We appreciate everyone who responded to our “call to action” to respond to cyber critics’ claims that appeared in an otherwise positive article about public cyber schools. There’s still time for you to respond, especially if you live in the Waynesboro area. You can check out our “Myth Busters” piece to help you write your comments.  Click here to read them.

Thanks to all of you for making this organization a strong voice for families!

 Stay Energized!

 Jenny Bradmon, President
