Rendell backing cyber schools
As a the parent of two public cyber school students, I applaud Gov. Ed Rendell and First Lady Marjorie Rendell for leading a virtual classroom discussion with children across Pennsylvania.
Our family has two children enrolled in a cyber school, and we couldn't agree more with Rendell when he said, "Today's class was a terrific demonstration of how technology is transforming our classrooms and broadening horizons for our kids."
We see this every day. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania's public school establishment and others are targeting public cyber schools for funding cuts. As president of Pennsylvania Families for Public Cyber Schools, representing more than 21,000 families, I hope Gov. and Mrs. Rendell will join us in protecting these vitally important schools from those who seek to close our schools, and in doing so, stomp out the very innovation Rendell supports.
